Images and all text notes from your selected SDA + Housing type in the My Home Space tool are provided here. You should also explore these within the 3D virtual tour environment, when considering their impact on the design and experience of supported housing.
Improved liveability housing is a dwelling that has been designed to improve ‘liveability’, and should be built to Livable Housing Australia ‘Silver’ level. The designed environment should respond to the needs of participants through incorporating a reasonable level of physical access and enhanced provision for participants with sensory, intellectual or cognitive impairment. For example, Improved Liveability dwellings should include one or more additional design features such as luminance contrasts, improved wayfinding and/or lines of sight depending on the needs of the participants(1).
Group homes are detached low-rise dwellings with garden or courtyard areas. They have similar features to the NDIS definition of a home; however, Group Homes are distinguished from other houses by the larger number of residents (four or five long term residents)(2).
